I typically don’t need an excuse to drink wine, but I do need an excuse to wear my pretty pink Steve Madden heels. Insert Friday night’s Sip Happens Party, co-hosted by myself and the lovely Kristin over at Walking By Faith Blog.
What’s a Sip Happens Party, you ask? It’s a wine tasting, featuring wines selected by bloggers based solely on their labels. During the party we talked about the wines, took photos on Instagram using the hashtag #siphappensparty, and today everyone who hosted a party in January is linking up a post about their event. (Let’s be honest. We all just drank wine and gossiped.)
So to kick off our weekend we passed the babies off to their daddies, gathered up our girlfriends, and tasted that vino in the name of blogging.
During a typical wine tasting, you expect to overhear your guests saying things like, “This red pairs nicely with the Brie and raspberry preserves!” Or, “I can definitely make out the floral notes in this Pinot Grigio.”
Sounds classy, right?
After approximately eight bottles of wine for six people, the conversations change drastically.
“I can totally do yoga! Try this move. It stretches me!”
“This one girl, in high school, …” (I’ll let you figure that one out.)
***Boo for not getting video of this next one***
“I’m learning every Britney Spears dance move ever so I can be prepared for Las Vegas!”
Yeah. Sip happened. And it went from fancy to downright hilarious REAL fast.
But the wines were fantastic, and really that’s the whole point. Not only did we sample chug this month’s featured wine, Kristin and I both took our professional blogger positions seriously and selected our own featured labels. You know, because we needed wine in every color at this party. Duh.
Our Featured Wines
14 Hands Hot To Trot Red Blend
Selected by Erin @ Living In Yellow, Val @ Chicken Scratch Blog, & Eva @ Eva Marie Taylor
Sequin Rose
Selected by Kristin @ Walking By Faith Blog
Fancy Pants Pinot Grigio
Selected by yours truly!
Should I give a review on each? Probably, but I’m not a professional. I have no clue what I was supposed to be tasting. Let’s just say, wine is good. So very good.
While there was no outstanding favorite wine (personally, I’m loving the 14 Hands Hot To Trot!), there was a clear consensus that we will be doing this again. Maybe with bath salts, but that’s another story…
See more awesome photos of our party by visiting Walking By Faith Blog, or follow the #siphappensparty hashtag on Instagram. Also, be sure to also follow Living In Yellow, Chicken Scratch Blog and Eva Marie Taylor to find out what the next featured wine will be and host your own party!
Until next time, keep sippin’ lovely people.
