Easter Sunday was pretty uneventful this year, which is why I decided not to write the standard “Easter Recap Post.” My sister-in-law came down with the flu, which meant Easter dinner was cancelled.
If Easter doesn’t involve church, ham or an egg hunt, is it still Easter?
I have to admit, I was a little depressed with the way our Easter turned out. I spent the day repainting my kitchen, Courtny installed cabinets, and Dorothy rolled in circles in the living room while admiring her new golden egg (great purchase, if I do say so myself). The day just wasn’t very celebratory.
Dot must have felt the same way about our Easter plans, because when I tried to do a photo shoot in her dress from Grandma P all I got was mean muggin’.
I feel the same way, Dbunny.
I think we’re all in a little bit of a funk here in the Cotten house. Maybe it’s because our home is all out of sorts, but I think it’s mostly because we haven’t had time to relax. We haven’t been able to enjoy the warm weather, or spend time as a family without doing a construction project. We’re just… fussy.
There are a few things that are making us smile, despite our moods. For example, we had a lovely impromptu dinner with Courtny’s brother and his husband in their new home on Sunday. Enchiladas in the backyard aren’t quite what I would call Easter dinner, but you can’t beat the company of family (or Courtny revealing that he’s becoming a pirate. More on that some other time).
For Dbunny, she smiles at Mickey Mouse…which is the only way we got these photos. Whatever makes her happy.
Our next few weeks are full of cross country business trips, followed by the highly-anticipated Las Vegas bachelor/bachelorette party. If we can just make it to Vegas, I think we’ll be ok.
Duh. Everything is better in Vegas.
