Dear Samantha,

Self Love

25 Feb

Dear Samantha,

You don’t believe it, but you are spectacular.

It’s been a long time since you have given yourself the positive self-talk that you deserve. Women your age are increasingly becoming lost, which fuels a spiral of self doubt and hurt. The heaviness of life can block the sun from your skin. No amount of self care can cover a negativity directed inside. Bubble baths don’t actually cleanse the soul.

But you, Samantha. I see what you’re doing to again bask in the rays. You are rising.

I know some days it doesn’t feel like it, but you are a badass mother. Those little girls live and breathe on your every word. You’re the rock who tucks them into bed each night. You’re the expert chauffeur who drives them to dance five times a week – not because you want to, but because you unwaveringly support their interests and endeavors. You’re their warmth, the one who lets them have ice cream for breakfast, and the one who will always ride virtual rollercoasters with them in the living room. Even when it feels like you’re failing, they think you’re perfect.

Samantha, you’re talented. Let yourself shine. Your words, truths, and vulnerabilities resonate with others – a skill that is becoming appreciated. You’re good at your job, and you excel with a flag in hand. You have dreams, and goals, and you are holding yourself accountable to those in a newfound pride. Your dedication, and your creativity in the face of a challenge… those qualities are impressive. Never stop reaching. Dare to be different. Your voice is appreciated.

You’re loyal.

You love hard. Always and forever.

You give good hugs. You’re generous. You are a great friend, and a pillar of support for those in need. You are needed and wanted.

Sami, you are gorgeous. Don’t ever think otherwise. Take the time to wear your favorite outfits. Show off that new body you have worked incredibly hard to find. Wear the jewelry you love, put on eyeshadow, and fluff those curls toward the sky. People pay big money for hair like yours – don’t hide it’s unique beauty.

You are strong, Samantha. In different ways, every day.

Lift yourself up. Grow tall.

Bloom bright.

With all my love,
Me

I challenge you to write a positive letter to yourself (and share below, if you feel inclined). Give yourself credit for your strengths and abilities.

Read it often, and own your light.

Samantha, I love this. Especially because every word is true. The example you set is so needed by all women. Kudos. Love Aunt Tammy
