An Easter Basket For DBunny

DIY· Family

3 Apr

Hippity, hoppity, Easter’s on it’s way…

DBunny’s first Easter is quickly approaching, and this momma has been stressing over her Easter basket.

Obviously my five-month-old does not understand the concept of the Easter Bunny or an egg hunt, so really this is just for me. But, hey. Someday she’ll see the photos and ask me about her first Easter, and I’ll have SOMETHING to tell her.

Of course I researched all of the appropriate places (Pinterest, duh), but then I came across an awesome post by one of my favorite bloggers, Little Baby Garvin. I mean, seriously, her Easter baskets for her daughters are adorable. I so wanted to pull from her idea, however her daughters are two and not even born yet – neither quite fit Dorothy’s age group.

So, this Easter Bunny decided to go at it on her own. If I were five months old, what would I want for Easter?

I fell head over heels for these Pottery Barn Kids Easter baskets and liners, but I just couldn’t justify the $55 price tag when I saw practically the same basket at Target for $10 ($9 if you use Cartwheel!).

My bestie, Kristin over at Walking By Faith Blog, introduced me to Roosevelt the Rabbit from Scentsy. We have more than our fair share of stuffed animals in the Cotten house, but at least this adorable bunny will serve a dual purpose. Dorothy’s room will stop smelling like dirty diapers, and a portion of each Roosevelt purchase will go to the March of Dimes. That’s a win-win in my book.

We have so many pairs of shoes for Dorothy, but conveniently none of them fit her right now. I followed Little Baby Garvin’s lead and purchased Dot the cutest pair of sandals from Baby Gap (40 percent off the whole store whaaaaat?!).

To top things off, I added a carrot full of bubbles from the Target One Spot, and a pretty golden egg from Party City. These don’t really serve any purpose, but all babies like shiny things and you can’t go wrong with bubbles. Duh.

There may be a few more additions to the basket before Easter… like some Peeps for momma… but this is what I’ve come up with for my not-toddler and not-newborn. I can’t wait to take her picture digging into this basket in her new Easter dress (thanks Grandma P!).

What is the Easter Bunny bringing your family? Apparently he’s bringing me new floors, but more on that another time. Can you spy the flooring samples in my photo shoot? 😉

Chris always asked me why there were peeps in his basket when he didn’t like them. Mommy tax that’s why!

Thanks for the suggestions. My grandson falls into that same category…not an infant but not a toddler. He is 8 months old so no candy in his basket. I might see if I can find some Easter shaped crackers. Have fun on her first Easter.
