I’m feeling like a bit of a Grinch.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that instead of gazing at my beautiful, 9 ft. Christmas tree, I’m sitting here looking at a twig.
Not very Christmas-y.
The husband and I decided that we have too much going on to drag our tree and all the ornaments out of the attic/guest room/wherever they all live the rest of the year. I mean, we have a full schedule of feedings, diaper changes and nap time (for Dot… unfortunately not for us). Constantly chasing two cats out of a Christmas tree is the last thing I want to deal with right now.
So, insert Charlie Brown tree.
It only took one day of me looking at our grand tree before I decided I needed to step it up a little. I was not about to let this be yet another #newmomfail.
I snuck in a 30 minute trip to Target, ordered Christmas stockings for our family, and set my DVR for National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (only the best Christmas movie, ever). Anything to get into the Christmas spirit.
And this is what I came up with. Behold! My attempt at a low maintenance, cat proof, and cheery Christmas.
I call this the present shrine.
And it is not cat proof.
Two for three isn’t bad. At least it feels a little more like the holidays here in the Cotten household. 🙂
With that crisis averted, I’m on to my next challenge…
What does Santa bring a two month old? Help is appreciated.
