I had the opportunity to leave my house, without toddler or husband in tow, twice this weekend.
TWICE.
It’s something unheard of around these parts. Two completely separate ladies’ days that didn’t involve lugging around a stroller. I actually used my purse for the first time in 12 months. It’s like a dream come true.
Don’t get me wrong, I love sweet D, but this momma needed some time away from the boogers, whines and constant Disney Junior re-runs.
…and apparently that’s all she needed too.
Let’s back up a minute.
My bestie Kristin received free last-minute tickets to Dancing Pros Live! on Saturday night. Opportunity to leave my house, and head to downtown Indy with all my favorite girls? No question. We wined and dined (quickly, thanks to 50 billion road closures) at Mesh before the show, and then headed over to the Murat to be dazzled.
I’m going to be totally honest – I was not very dazzled. I’ve seen high school dance recitals that could top that performance. However, expensive drinks and ab-oogling with the girls made up for the lack of wow and provided for a great time.
After a little shopping at Silver in the City and dessert, I drove all the way back to the Ville only to turn around and head back to Indy the next morning. I joined my momma, sisters and aunt to shop for my beautiful cousin’s bridal make-up. She had the total experience at MAC Cosmetics – obvious by her “before” photo.
Totally kidding. Her “bridal face” is amazing, and we had so much fun! But can you believe they sell turkey masks at Nordstrom? We. were. dying.
Anyway while enjoying a fabulous lunch, catching up with my fam and spending all of my husband’s money, I decided to do my motherly duty and check in at home. What my husband sent me makes me never want to leave the house again.
I leave for like 24 total hours, and this is how Dorothy repays me – by making me cry happy tears in the middle of Nordstrom.
I mean, of course she decides to walk on a day when momma isn’t home. And I mean it, she totally just decided, because now she practically runs everywhere. Mom guilt to the extreme.
I’m most definitely in for it.

First off congrats to your little girl for walking that is so exciting!! I totally feel you on this one bc this past weekend I too had a chance for a girls night. When I check in my husband proceeds to tell me Avery stood up for the first time! While I was so happy, I was also so sad that it brought me to tears. I thought since I was a stay at home mom now I would for sure get to be there for all his big firsts (as I wasn’t there for Kadens bc they always happened at daycare). Not sure I have any words to make it feel any better since I too am just going through it. Just wanted to say I am right there with you mama!
