one | coach

I’ve been wanting to brag on my husband for some time, and this week I’m finally allowed to do so! If you didn’t know, Courtny was kind of a big deal back in his day.

He went to the IHSAA State Finals in the 300 Hurdles a few years in a row, still holds a school record at Crawfordsville High School, and ran collegiately at the University of Indianapolis.

This week, Courtny graduated to become “Coach Cotten” as the Assistant Varsity Track Coach… at his rival high school and my alma mater. I’m so proud of the dedication he’s already shown to his group of kids this week. Sure, it makes our home life a little more chaotic with him gone every evening, but I know it’s worth it (and that he loves it). He’s going to be a pretty awesome coach, in my opinion.

And I’m patiently waiting for the day he has to sport a Southmont t-shirt, camera in hand. Go Mounties!

 

two | divas

I headed to Noblesville last night for the fifth annual Diva Night to support local businesses. I met up with my best ladies, Kristin, Bethany and Katrin, and we literally shopped until we dropped. Basically you visit all of the participating shops, enjoy food and cocktails in each, and collect stamps on our “passports” along the way. Each stamp is worth one ticket, which enters you for huge prizes at the end.

You would think four women with over 80 tickets would win something. Except we’re apparently expert losers.

There’s always next year, ladies. Maybe the third year is the charm?

 

three | spring cleaning

I’m hosting a little “clothing swap party” soon (stay tuned for details!), so I spent the better part of this week cleaning out my closet in preparation. How does one person accumulate so many clothes? Particularly ones they never wear? Because I’m pretty sure my closet looks the same even after I removed half of the clutter.

Yet, I never have anything to wear… Did I mention a gorgeous new dress may have followed me home from Diva Night?

While daddy was coaching and mommy was shopping, Dorothy got to spend the night with her grandparents. I have to share this photo my mother-in-law took, because it is the absolute essence of my daughter right now.

And it makes my heart melt.

Where do they learn these things? She just loves to be pretty.

 

five | the big 5-0

Before we end, let’s all wish my momma a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY today. It’s kind of a big one.

Being the awesome daughter I am, I brought her lunch of Titus Bakery cupcakes and wine this morning… because you should be able to do what you want when you turn 50.
