Here we are, Day 89 of #OperationTearOutOurWholeHouse, and I can officially say we’re done.
Lie.
95 percent done, maybe. And yes, Day 89 is actually accurate. Which is sad.
It turns out that nothing gets your ass in gear faster than agreeing to host a post-wedding gift opening party at your home. For a bunch of people you don’t really know. When you’re in the middle of #OperationTearOutOurWholeHouse…
Let’s just say the panic has set in.
Thankfully, my husband took the past week off of work so that we could finish up a bajillion and one house projects. Since the last time I updated you all on our insane DIY project we were in the midst of DIY hell, I feel like I should give you all a final report. You know, since the hubs and I had a blasty-blast over our Fourth of July week(end). Ha.
We managed to wrangle our extremely mobile and curious orangutang 8 month old, and complete the following projects while you all were shooting off fireworks:
1. Finished trimming the kitchen cabinets.
2. Touched up wall paint.
3. Ripped out the back patio landscaping and replaced with river rocks.
4. Spray painted our existing patio furniture.
5. Painted the baseboards in the downstairs of our home.
6. Re-finished our dining room table.
7. Hung new light fixtures.
8. Installed a new mail box.
9. Took an IKEA trip to buy a much-needed rug for Dot’s playroom.
9.5. Assembled furniture from said IKEA trip. Not easy.
…yeah. Relaxing holiday weekend, my butt.
I know 89 days is a long time to wait for anything, so without any further adieu I present to you the fruit of our labor – our DIY Monster, aka #OperationTearOutOurWholeHouse, aka the kitchen.
I think we’re done DIY-ing for awhile (save for the bathroom I have to finish before Sunday…). Sure, we saved tens-of-thousands of dollars by doing it all ourselves (with the help of some awesome family and friends), but next time I’m hiring a professional.
And there you have it. #OperationTearOutOurWholeHouse, out.
Never again.
