It’s a big day here on the blog!
Our littlest princess is scheduled to arrive in shortly over eight weeks, and her nursery is officially finished. I’m so excited to share it with you!
Last summer, I started Operation Big Girl Room. When we moved to this house, I didn’t put much thought into poor Dorothy’s new room. I simply painted the walls white and used all of her existing nursery decor from the old house – which didn’t exactly fit. She was somewhere between nursery and big girl room at the time, so I just left it as a mismatched mess until I could decide what I wanted to do (plus, I had a lot of other rooms to decorate!). I finally settled on a blue princess room last July, and went to work painting the walls and purchasing big girl bedding. My mom painted a silhouette mural of Cinderella’s Castle and Tinkerbell, and I was planning to add in lots of other Disney elements.
Then all of those plans came to a screaming halt in September, when I found out I was pregnant.
Since then, Dorothy has been moved to her NEW big girl room (which I will share soon!) and her sister inherited a half finished blue nursery. Because I did not want to paint the room a third time in under a year, I made the decision early on that the walls were going to stay Sherwin Williams’ Soar regardless of gender. It was after I came across this Pin, though, that the nursery finally started to take direction.
Classic Cinderella.
My mom is an artist, and growing up my sisters and I always had murals painted in our bedrooms. I think it’s so neat that both of my daughters now have some of Mamaw’s art in their bedrooms as well! The Cinderella Castle silhouette stayed, and mom added the Gus and Jaq from my Pinspiration near the door. We also decided to include Lucifer the cat, who appears to be guarding the baby princess’ crib.
As for furniture, not much changed from big sister’s nursery. The crib and dresser belonged to Dorothy, and before that they were mine and my sisters’. My mom repainted the changing table we originally purchased for Dorothy from a local thrift store with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint’s Paris Grey (yes, a $20 buffet can easily become a changing table!). I kept the same rocker, and I simply changed out the fabric in the feature frame to a subtle gray damask.
To tie the room together, I needed some new wall decor. And friends, I have to tell you, you need to check out the artists over at Minted. I have always loved Minted for their stationary, but their home decor and wall art lines are just gorgeous. I found this pretty blue word collage print by artist Renee Pulve, and customized the words to be all things Cinderella. It couldn’t be more perfect to hang above the rocking chair with a framed Cinderella movie poster from Aunt Grace.
While I was shopping, I also grabbed a large glass apothecary jar for the dresser from Minted’s home line. Now I can display baby girl’s pretty bows and headbands (hopefully she has hair like her big sister!), and also have quick access to them when getting her dressed for the day.
Finally, I used to display the “D” from our maternity photos on Dorothy’s door. When I discovered these door hangings by Lori Wemple on Minted, I quickly decided the girls needed matching bedroom signs! I snagged the berry version for Dorothy, and the sky for…
What?! A nursery reveal AND C2’s name in print?! It gets better.
