Here we are again! Another month of spending my husband’s money, and having the interwebs decide what goes in my closet. Yay!
I don’t know about you, but these days are super fun for me. I love hearing your feedback. I just wish I could take you all with me when I go to the mall…
Anyway, you know how it goes. I live by the “One Item Rule,” unless a box is really good. I have not yet purchased anything, and really do value your opinions. So, leave a comment. Tell me when something looks amazeballs, or when I look completely ridiculous. Use some of my photos on Pinterest to tell your stylist what you’re looking for (I know, contrary to yesterday’s post, I really do love Pinterest).
Thanks guys! You’re all the best. 🙂

Collective Concepts Simpson Halter Blouse – Small – $58
I love, love, love this neckline. I used to think that halter styles were not good on my body, but now I think maybe I was just trying on the wrong types. I feel like this top helps elongate my torso, which makes me look a little taller and a little skinnier (maybe, hopefully).
The handkerchief print (at least, that’s what I would call it) normally would be a little too country for me, but I kind of like it on this top. It screams summer, right?
I would say this is probably my favorite item in my box… but I’m not digging the price. Like, at all. What’s a girl to do?
Verdict: Returned (due to price)
Color: Off-White
My Pairings:
Necklace | Stella & Dot
Jeans | Flying Monkey
Shoes | LC Lauren Conrad (out of stock)

Sweet Rain Keno Scoop Neck Blouse – Small – $44
Eh. I’m not crazy about this.
I guess I’m not much of a pastels person. I prefer brighter, bolder colors. I do like the flutter sleeves, but I’m not really in love with the sheer. I think it makes my layering tank look awkward.
The pattern, I do like. If you’ve been paying attention, I’m kind of drawn to tribal/aztec vibes. But, this just isn’t my favorite. What do you think?
Verdict: Returned
Color: Pale Yellow
My Pairings:
Necklace | Big Lots (believe it or not)Jeans | Flying Monkey
Shoes | LC Lauren Conrad (out of stock)

Pixley Rachel Maxi Dress – Small – $78
I keep asking for maxi dresses in every Fix because I have yet to find the perfect one. We’re getting closer, I think. I just want something casual that I can rock as a SAHM, but not something that looks too basic.
This dress is close, but just not right. If I’m going to spend $78 on a maxi (granted, a very well-constructed maxi), I need it to be amazing. I like the causality of this dress, but I’m a little over the chevron trend. Plus, the top is too big. I don’t usually wear pink and purple together, but it’s growing on me.
Embracing my girly side, right?
Verdict: Returned
Color: Purple
My Pairings:Necklace | Trader Buck’s Flea Market
(and you thought it couldn’t get any better than Big Lots…)

Liverpool Susie Bermuda Short – Size 4 – $58
In this month’s stylist notes, I asked specifically for black shorts that I could wear to the Indianapolis 500. There weren’t any black shorts available, so Stylist Christina Ann sent me these.
At first, I thought I hated them. Then I put them on. Now I’m just confused.
These fit really nicely. Like, almost well enough to forget that they’re a weird shade of green. I don’t normally wear Bermuda shorts, so it’s nice to see something a little different. Can I get past the color? Should I? Help!
Verdict: Returned
Color: Olive
My Pairings:
Necklace | Stitch Fix
Tank | Retro 101
Sandals | Target (old)

Bay to Baubles Emilee Teardrop Cluster Necklace – $34
I do like this necklace, but I clearly own enough statement necklaces at this point. Can I really justify another? Even if it’s really pretty?
Verdict: Returned
Color: Light Green

And that’s my May Fix! So, let’s hear it. What should I keep this go ’round?
{Update: I decided not to keep anything from this box. The closest keep was the Collective Concepts blouse, but I just couldn’t get past that price tag. You win some, and you lose some.}

I Love the maxi. It’s a great color for you. It’s very slimming.
Also, the first top is a must.
Just my humble opinion
Heather Hammel says
I agree with you on the first top. It is really pretty and flatters your body, but I’m not loving that price either. As for the 2nd top, I don’t like it either and I think the rest of the items are just “ok”. So if you were to keep one of the items, I’d keep the 1st top but I still feel like you could find it somewhere else cheaper.

if that second top was a smidgen longer…I feel like it would do it wonders! The halter looks great! Ditto on the price…ugh. My fav, although not yours, I’m diggin’ those shorts…
deannab1 says
I completely agree with you on everything you said. I would only keep the first tank and nothing else. It’s not a bad price when you factor in that you would pay $20 for nothing if you didn’t keep it.
Chloe Allen says
The shorts look like a seafoam green instead of olive…and I think they are adorable on you! You could wear them with lots of different tops/necklaces too!
I agree on all the other pieces–too pricey & not quite the ‘wow factor’ that some of your other fixes have had!
Samantha Cotten says
You’re right. They definitely are more seafoam than olive. I just write down what the invoice says! I don’t know. I keep going back and forth between the shorts and the halter top!
Emily says
The first top with the high neckline excentuates your collar and neck bone. Not to mention this neckline is huge in the fashion world! That would def be my pick!!!
Aimee says
Hi. I would definitely keep the first top. It’d would be super cute with navy or red shorts or a skirt (barbecues/picnics, date night). I’d also keep the shorts. They’re a cute color and I think they’d look good with heels.
Adrian says
I loved the halter top as well, but that price is not so pretty. I definitely think you could find it cheaper. I love the shorts super cute and versatile. I also agree with what you said about the other pieces they were pricey as well and not a “homerun.”
Hannah says
I love the scoop neck blouse! Great for those summer wine tastings 😉 I started following your blog after reading your post about your wedding. It spoke to my heart because I’m currently in the process of planning my wedding and LOVED your advice. I’m nominating you for the Liebster Award. Check out my last blog post on Adultingwithhannah.wordpress.com for more details.

Omg! It such a small world! I work at the same radio station as your friend Joanna!
Samantha Cotten says
My roomie?! Crazy, small world!
Susan says
I LOVE the green shorts, they may be unusual for your style but they look good and you can pull off the pop of color. love the shirt you paired it with too!
Rachel says
i like the halter top and shorts!
Samantha Cotten says
UPDATE: I ended up sending the whole box back. I hate doing that, because I did like a few of the pieces, but nothing “wow’ed” me this Fix.
The husband and I will be leaving on a Caribbean vacation shortly after my next Fix is scheduled to arrive. I’ve asked for beach appropriate items from the stylists, similar to my Las Vegas Fix last year. I can’t wait to see what they come up with!
Denise says
The first photo is the best, very flattering on you. The whole outfit!
Samantha Cotten says
Thank you! I love that halter neckline!
