I’m here to profess my Valentine’s Day affections.

But, #WhoIsJamesScott exactly? We’ll get to that.

You all know that I’m constantly on the hunt for the next best thing. And when these t-shirts from James Scott Apparel arrived on my doorstep I knew I had found new favorite, because holy softness. I’m all about comfort (especially at nearly six months pregnant), so basically James Scott has won my heart. Add on the fact that it’s a local Indianapolis business created by two fellow University of Indianapolis alumni and friends of mine, and I’m head over heels.

JSA began in 2014 when Fenrick James and Ryan Scott decided to create a better UIndy t-shirt. As most people who went to a small college probably know, the spirit apparel typically leaves a lot to be desired. The gear at the bookstore is far too expensive (and, since I’m all for honesty, too boring), and the cheap shirts you can buy at the mall are made of some sort of cardboard blend. They’re not attractive, the designs crack after one wash, and the shirt doesn’t really make you feel positive about promoting your alma mater.

Fenrick and Ryan decided that Greyhounds deserved better options. They went to work with a mantra of “Passion, Loyalty, Excellence,” to design a t-shirt that would be attractive to all young Greyhounds – focusing on high-quality materials, like insanely soft shirts and better ink. What they created, in my opinion, blows everyone else out of the water.

These shirts make me proud to be a ‘Hound.

But why stop there? JSA started to create designs beyond the university that promoted important positive messages like, “Love Indy” and “Loyalty.” Soon you’ll be able to buy other local university apparel, and JSA’s new design, “Indianapolis Island,” which is a nod to Fenrick’s Bahamian heritage and our city’s reputation for Hoosier hospitality.

But really, #WhoIsJamesScott? Search the hashtag and you’ll see. James Scott isn’t a person in particular, but an idea that many young people try to emulate. James Scott is Sexy. Bold. Sophisticated. Different. JSA strives to design for everything you aspire to be. So cool, and so deep, right?
