You can attribute my radio silence this past week to the fact that I was nominated to host Thanksgiving yesterday for my in-laws. Which means this not-so Betty Crocker had to figure out how to make a full dinner for seven people with no previous experience.
No pressure.
I also burnt macaroni-and-cheese the night before and filled my house with smoke. It was reassuring.
My mother provided me with this “Bible” last week, and I literally took notes. And studied. And made two huge grocery lists.
I’m just going to put this out there – I’m normally a total domestic failure. However, I managed with pull together a pretty dang awesome Thanksgiving meal. Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, noodles, green bean cassarole, corn souffle, homemade rolls, and even a pumpkin pie. A turkey was in my oven people. I have officially hit wife status, a mere 6.5 years into my marriage.
I think my family was impressed.
I even used my grandma’s fancy plates and goblets. Bonus points.
Okay, so my mother came to supervise me in my own kitchen the day before. Sue me.

I’m waiting for the day when I’ll have to eventually host Thanksgiving. Hopefully I’ll have my husband to help me, given that I am as strong in the cooking dept as a fish living on land. I may be able to to survive a little bit, but the end result is usually not good. I will have to give props to my husband though. He has managed to teach me some, but my dishes still turn out questionable. Based on your pictures, I think you managed to find your inner Betty Crocker! Congrats!
